CLEVELAND – Western Michigan senior Payton Murphy has been named Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week after her performance in WMU's win at Bowling Green last Friday.

Murphy won the all-around, beam and floor as the Broncos posted a season-best total score of 195.925. Her score of 39.400 in the all-around, the highest in the MAC so far this season, tied her career-high and school record. She also posted a 9.875 on floor and beam and a 9.825 on vault and bars.

This is the first MAC honors for a Bronco so far this season.

Western Michigan resumes competition this Sunday, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m. at Kent State University.
