WMU Student-Athletes Post Record Fall Semester GPA

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan student-athletes, once again, reached unprecedented academic heights after posting a combined GPA of 3.38 for the Fall 2022 semester.

The GPA is the new highest on record. WMU student-athletes boasted 304 with GPA's of 3.0 or higher (79% of student-athletes) and 224 of them had a 3.5 or higher. The Broncos also had 82 with perfect 4.0's. The Western Michigan golf team had the highest team GPA for the semester with a combined 3.90.

"This record setting mark is a testament to the diligence and hard work of our student-athletes, the culture of academic accountability created by our coaches, and the incredible work of our academic staff - Ashley Williams, Adriana Diaz, Jasmine Warren and Lorne Robertson," said WMU Director of Athletics Dan Bartholomae.

Fifteen Broncos also graduated in December.

"Our student athletes work hard both in the classroom and in their respective sports," said Williams, the assistant athletic director for academic services. "I am proud and thankful for their efforts, as well as the culture of academic excellence our coaches, staff, and administration have built at WMU.

From the five fall sports, WMU student-athletes earned a combined 52 Academic All-MAC selections and five College Sports Communicators Academic All-Americans.
