KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan volleyball team won its fifth consecutive match on Saturday, as it topped Buffalo 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-22) for the second straight day.

Maggie King and
Keona Salesman paced the Western Michigan attack with 17 and 16 kills, respectively. King hit .282 to extend her double-digit kill streak to nine matches in a row. Salesman's 16 kills came on a .484 hitting percentage, with both marking bests during her time as a Bronco.
Logan Case came close to a double-double, totaling 36 assists and eight digs. The junior extended her streak of matches with 30 or more assists to 27 in a row.
Mairead Boyle led WMU with a season-high 14 digs, while
Andelyn Simkins (13) and
Reeghan Boyer (10) were also in double-figures.
A 4-0 run helped Western Michigan erase an early deficit and draw even, 12-12, in the first set. The Bulls climbed back in front, 17-15, but the Broncos once again reeled off four consecutive points to grab a 19-17 edge. UB regained a 22-21 advantage, but a service error followed by a
Reeghan Boyer service ace started a 4-1 set-sealing spurt for WMU.
The Bulls once again enjoyed an early edge in the second frame, as the visitors built a 14-9 cushion. Western Michigan tallied four consecutive points to get within one, 14-13, and eventually got back even at 18-18 on a kill by
Anna Calcagno. UB crept back in front, 20-19, but back-to-back kills by
Amanda Glanton and Salesman ignited a 6-0 run to finish the set for the Broncos and send them into the break leading the match 2-0.
Western Michigan got off to a fast start in the third set, grabbing eight of the first 10 points on the way to a 15-6 lead. Buffalo used an 8-3 stretch to shrink the gap to three, 19-16. Three of the next four points went to the Broncos, with a
Mary Clare Brusek service ace making it 22-17 in favor of WMU. A 4-1 run got the Bulls within two, 23-21, but Western Michigan held on from there to complete the weekend sweep.
The Broncos hit the road for their next three matches, beginning on Tuesday evening as they travel to Northern Illinois. First serve against the Huskies is set for 7 pm.
