Men's Soccer Heads to MSU Before Hosting Wisconsin for Bronco Soccer Fest

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's soccer team heads down the road to take on Michigan State on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. before welcoming Wisconsin for Bronco Soccer Fest on Monday afternoon.
 
Thursday's game can be watched online on Big Ten Network+. The annual Bronco Soccer Fest starts at 12:30 p.m. and runs up until kickoff at 3 p.m. Bronco Soccer Fest is $25 for an adult, $10 for kids 12 and under, with three and under getting in free. Admission to the game is free. Registration deadline for Bronco Soccer Fest is Friday, Sept. 2 at 3 p.m. To register, head to www.wmubroncos.com/soccerfest.
 
Monday's game can also be watched live on ESPN+.
 
WMU opened the regular season on the road last week, falling late to Butler 2-0. The game was scoreless until the 79th minute, when Palmer Ault gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Butler later added a penalty kick goal in the 86th minute to seal the game.
 
GOING BACK HOME

Western Michigan graduate student goalkeeper Hunter Morse heads back to where he spent the first five years of his collegiate career, at Michigan State. Morse started for three seasons with the Spartans, leaving East Lansing with 13 career wins and eight shutouts.
 
STATE SUPREMACY
WMU has won each of the last two meetings against the Spartans. Last season, MSU came to the WMU Soccer Complex and suffered a 2-0 loss. In 2019 the two teams met up in East Lansing, with the Broncos coming away the victors, 1-0.
 
Western Michigan is also 10-0 in its lasts 10 games against teams from the state of Michigan. The last loss to a school from the Mitten State was back on Sept. 7, 2018 at the University of Michigan, 3-2 in overtime.
 
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
MSU is 1-1-0 to start the season and have yet to go on the road, opening with a 2-1 win over Army before falling 3-2 to Notre Dame.
 
No Spartan has more than one goal or one assist on the season so far, with MSU boasting four different talismen. Jack Beck, Greyson Mercer, Jacob Cromer and Efosa Emovon each have three total shots on the season for the team lead, while Emovon and Jake Spadafora have two shots on goal each. Owen Finnerty has played every minute in net, making seven saves so far.
 
ON THE HORIZON
WMU heads back on the road next week with a trip to Northwestern on Friday at 8 p.m.
