ITHACA, N.Y. – Sixteen members of the 2021-22 Western Michigan gymnastics team have been named Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WGCA) Scholastic All-Americans on Wednesday.
To earn WCGA Scholastic All-American honors a student-athletes must have a 3.5 overall grade point average or a 3.5 grade point average for 2021-22.
Tess Abbot (4.0, sport management), Veronica Binstock (3.72, sport management), Halle Faulkner (3.55 exercise science), Molly Freeman (3.95, psychology), Amanda Gruber (4.0, biomedical sciences), Carissa Ludwig (3.94, accounting), Sarah Moravansky (3.68, biomedical sciences) Payton Murphy (3.98, nursing), Breckin Quoss (3.92, business), Donnakathryn Roy (3.95, sport management), Abby Singh (3.93, biomedical sciences), Gigi Singh (3.66, nursing), Cassandra St. Clair (3.63, business), Josephine Thomas (3.94, accounting), Charlotte Tishkoff (3.54, marketing) and Margo Van Linden (3.94, nutrition & dietetics) all earned the honors.
"I'm very proud of how our gymnasts continue to set the bar high for themselves and one another," said head coach Penny Jernigan. "Every year we aim to perform at the highest levels both athletically and academically and our 2021-22 team did just that. This national recognition for their hard work is another great motivator for us as we approach a new academic year."
The Broncos, who competed at the NCAA Regional for the second-consecutive season, combined for the 10th-best GPA in the sport with a 3.7258.
