KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Student-athletes from Western Michigan University combined for a 3.33 GPA for the 2022 Spring Semester.
This is the sixth consecutive semester that the Broncos have exceeded a GPA of 3.30, while more than half (56 percent) of the student-athletes earned above a 3.50.
"We are so proud of the record breaking work our student-athletes continue to perform in the classroom and within the University community," said WMU Director of Athletics Dan Bartholomae. "I am particularly appreciative of the great job that our Academic Support Staff – Jeff Stone, Ashley Williams and Adriana Diaz – has done in putting our programs in a position to succeed. With well over 20 percent of our athletes at a 4.0 GPA, and well over half of our student-athletes over a 3.50 GPA, our Broncos continue to set the standard in the classroom."
WMU also set a new record with 83 student-athletes earning a perfect 4.0 GPA. Spring semester student-athletes also combined for 93 Academic All-Conference selections. The academic success led to 40 student-athletes earning degrees in April and another 13 in the June.
