McIntyre was hit by a pitch in the third inning of game one to break WMU's single-season record for hit by pitches with his 23rd of the campaign. The previous record of 22 was set by Grant Miller in 2015. McIntyre also had a pair of hits in the contest and scored three times.

Greg Budig and Cade Sullivan each had a pair of hits in the opener, with Budig hitting his second home run of the season. Gavin Doyle drove in three runs for Western Michigan in game one, and had a hit in both games to extend his hitting streak to 13 games in a row.

Nolan Vlcek worked three scoreless innings out of the bullpen in game one and collected three strikeouts.

Doyle gave Western Michigan an early lead in the opener with a first-inning RBI single, but CMU tallied the next 17 to seize the lead.

Western Michigan plated one in the third and four in the fourth to close the gap, and Budig hit his solo home run in the fifth inning for the Broncos.

In game two, Dylan Nevar had a pair of doubles and reached three times. The redshirt freshman led off the second inning with a two-bagger, but was stranded at third.

With WMU down 1-0 in the fourth, Nevar once again opened the frame with a double, but the Broncos could not bring him around to score.

The Chippewas then took control of the contest with a pair in the bottom of the fourth and nine in the fifth.

Western Michigan took advantage of a pair of errors to plate its lone run of the finale in the seventh on a McIntyre sacrifice fly.

The Broncos and Chippewas close out their four-game series on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
