KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan sixth-year senior
Brittney Hall took fourth overall in the 10,000-meter run on Thursday night as the Bronco Track & Field team wrapped up the first day of hosting the 2022 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Kanley Track Complex.
Hall ran a time of 34:58.15, just nearly missing a personal-best by three seconds, to earn five points for WMU. Hall spent nearly the first half of the race in second place behind Miami's Avan Nuttall. Toledo's pair of Faith Linga and Stephanie Sherman then separated themselves from the pack to take a lead, with Linga winning the race. Hall finished strong with a 10-second advantage on Eastern Michigan's Sofia Ivanko, who took fifth.
The Broncos missed out on qualifying in the 400-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash on the day, while
Taylor Eaton finished 15th in the hammer throw with a distance of 161' 11" (49.36m).
WMU has a full day of trials and finals in the shot put and the steeplechase on Friday.
