BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team fell opened up its weekend falling on the road at Buffalo, 5-2, on Friday afternoon.
After the teams split at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, the first point came down to the No. 3 match between UB's Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou and Gabriella Akopyan and WMU's
Kaitlyn Rogosch and
Kristina Tiraspolsky. The two duos battled back and forth, with neither taking more than a one game lead. They battled to a 6-6 tie but the Bulls won in the tie-breaker set 6-3 to take the first point of the match.
In singles action
Lindsey Zieglar and Rogosch earned Western Michigan's two points. Ziegler won a three-set match at No. 1 over Hsin-Yuan Shih, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. Rogosch won quickly at No. 6 over Mariana Carvajal Torres, 6-4, 6-0.
Western Michigan returns home to host Northern Illinois on Sunday at 1 p.m.
