Cincinnati, Ohio – The Western Michigan track and field team wrapped up the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational hosted by the University of Cincinnati on Saturday, with the Broncos turning in nine top-eight finishes.
 
The highest finish on the day came from senior Madison Ochs in the discus. Ochs threw a distance of 148' 2" (45.17m), just under three feet shy of her personal best, to take third overall. The finish earned six points for the Broncos, who finished in fifth place at the meet.
 
Also scoring in the throws was senior Taylor Eaton, taking fifth place in the hammer throw with a distance of 159' 10" (48.71m) to earn five points.
 
The highest finish in the running events came by sophomore Grace Johnson in the 100-meter hurdles. Johnson finished with a time of 14.22 seconds to take third place. The Broncos claimed the fourth and fifth spots as well, with Sarinity Bracey taking fourth with a time of 14.28 and Ahvon Mitchell taking fifth with a time of 14.40. Combined, the trio scored 15 points. Mitchell also went on to take seventh in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.14.
 
Freshman Azariah McGee-Grantham continued her strong start to the outdoor season with a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.46 seconds. She also combined with Sarinity and Trinity Bracey, and Johnson to take third in the 4x100-meter relay with a combined time of 46.92 seconds.
 
Junior Annalise James also got a point for the Broncos after finishing eighth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:46.95.
 
The Broncos are back in action next weekend on the east side of the state at Oakland University for the Golden Grizzlies Invitational beginning on Friday.
