CLEVELAND, Ohio – Western Michigan women's basketball was eliminated this afternoon in the Mid-American Conference quarterfinals at the hands of the Buffalo Bulls by a final score of 63-49. The Broncos finished the season with an overall record of 16-14.
The first quarter of play began with redshirt sophomore forward
Taylor Williams getting WMU on the scoreboard first thanks to an old fashioned three-point play. The Bulls responded with an and-one of their own shortly thereafter and the teams traded scores until the first media break at the 4:42 mark, when Western Michigan found itself holding an 8-4 advantage.
UB found some momentum throughout the rest of the period, and WMU faced a two-point deficit, trailing 14-12 at the end of one. Western Michigan held a lead for 6:34 of the initial 10 minutes and
Taylor Williams led all scorers through the opening period with five points, including a perfect 3-3 quarter from the charity stripe.
Quarter number two leaned in favor of Buffalo as the Bulls grew their advantage steadily throughout the period. The Broncos hit a bit of a struggle offensively and found themselves down 33-18 entering the locker room.

The third quarter went very similar to the second, as the Bulls' lead continued to increase.

Reilly Jacobson contributed a pair of scores as well. The final quarter of play featured some traction for the Broncos, who began to chip into the Buffalo lead as the game wound down.
WMU shot 41.2 percent as a team during the fourth while outscoring UB 22-14 in the contest's final stanza. The Broncos finished the game on a 10-0 run thanks to a triple and layup from sophomore guard
Megan Wagner, a bucket from freshman center
Lauren Audino, and three consecutive free throws from senior forward
Hannah Douglas.
Leading the way for Western Michigan was
Taylor Williams, who notched her 10
th double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Sydney Shafer tallied eight points and two steals, while
Reilly Jacobson added seven points and 10 rebounds to the Bronco cause. As a team, WMU scored 12 points off of Buffalo turnovers, 26 points in the paint, and 18 points via the Bronco reserves.
