LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Western Michigan softball team fell to Hofstra 10-2 in the first game of the day, before falling to host Louisville 8-0 in the second game of the day on Saturday at the Cardinal Classic.
In the day's first contest, the Broncos held Hofstra scoreless through the first two innings, but the Pride broke through with four runs in both the third and fourth innings. WMU scored two in the top of the fifth, but were unable to get back in the game.

Cassidy Brendtke batted 1-for-2 with a run and a walk,
Reily Galloway went 1-for-3 with an RBI, and freshman
Lauren Porter was 1-for-1 with a run, walk, and her first collegiate stolen base. Junior pitcher
Mikayla Barnard allowed one earned run and struck out two in 2.1 innings of relief.
In game two, Brendtke hit a double and was 2-for-3 at the plate, but Louisville led off the first inning with a solo home run and a three-run shot to go ahead 4-0. The Cardinals then added a run in the second, two in the fourth, and one in the sixth to seal the game.
Up next, WMU rounds out its weekend at the Cardinal Classic with a 9 a.m. game against Illinois. The team then heads to Madeira Beach, Fla. for its spring break games beginning on Tuesday, March 8 with a doubleheader against Army West Point at 11 a.m.
