LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sophomore
Cassidy Brendtke extended her hit streak to 12 games, but the Western Michigan softball team fell 9-0 to Illinois in the final game at the Cardinal Classic Sunday morning.
Brendtke singled to left in her final at bat of the game to keep the streak alive. The Broncos were unable to get momentum on the base paths, while Illinois had a grand slam in the first inning, added two runs in the second, and scored three in the home half of the fourth.
Looking ahead, WMU heads to Madeira Beach, Fla. for eight games over the next week, beginning with a doubleheader against Army West Point on Tuesday, March 8 beginning at 11 a.m.
