CLEVELAND – The Western Michigan women's tennis team swept the Mid-American Conference weekly awards with junior Lindsey Ziegler earning MAC Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week and the duo of Ana Guadiana and Kiana Rizzolo earning MAC Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week.
Zieglar improved to 8-3 in dual match singles play after defeating Bethune-Cookman's Afrika Smith at No. 1 6-2, 6-1 in WMU's lone match last week. All eight of her wins in dual match play have now come in two sets and she has won four straight.
Guadiana and Rizzolo helped the Broncos earn the doubles point in their 7-0 win at Bethune-Cookman last week. The duo was slotted at No. 1 and defeated Afrika Smith and Diarra Thomas 6-3. It was just the second time the two had been paired up this season, improving their record to 2-0 in dual match play.
The Broncos are back in action on Thursday, hosting Illinois-Chicago outdoors at Sorensen Courts at 1 p.m. Due to construction around the courts, spectators are asked to park in the parking ramp or in lot 47.
