KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan University Athletic Department is releasing the football non-conference schedule for 2022. The season will open Friday, Sep. 2 in East Lansing against the Michigan State Spartans.
After an 8-5 season in 2021, capped by a Quick Lane Bowl victory over Nevada, the Broncos 2022 non-conference schedule includes a Sep. 17 home game against defending ACC Champion, Pitt, in a rematch of a game won last fall by the Broncos at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
The non-conference schedule includes a trip to San Jose State on Sep. 24. The Broncos will meet the Spartans for the second year in a row after defeating SJSU at Waldo Stadium in 2021. The non-conference schedule will conclude with a game on Oct. 1 against New Hampshire in the first-ever meeting between the two teams. All game times and TV networks will be announced at a later date.
The Mid-American Conference schedule will be released in the coming weeks. The Broncos open spring practice on Feb. 21, and will conclude spring ball with the spring game on March 26.
