KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team picked up its fourth-straight win after defeating Valparaiso, 7-0, at West Hills Athletic Club on Friday afternoon.
The Broncos improved to 7-4 on the season with the victory over the Beacons.
WMU earned the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Ana Guadiana and Kaitlyn Rogosch made quick work of VALPO's Amanada Tabanera and Isabella School Craft at No. 2, winning 6-0. Lindsey Zieglar and Karin Hamilton secured the point for the Broncos after a 6-3 win at No. 3 over Demi Jhaveri and Allison McConnell.
Zieglar put the Broncos ahead 2-0 with a quick win at No. 1 singles over Olivia Czerwonka 6-3, 6-1. That was followed by sophomore Maya Perkucin defeating Schoolcraft 6-1, 6-0 to push the lead to 3-0. Guadiana sealed the match win for Western Michigan with a three-set win at No. 2 over Claire Czerwonka, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Hamilton made it 4-0 with a three-set win at No. 4. She improved to 8-1 in dual matches this season with the 6-7 (5-10), 6-1, 6-1 victory over Tabanera. Femke Tjon-A-Joe and Rogosch also picked up three-set wins to complete the sweep of the Beacons.
Western Michigan heads down to Florida to take on Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday, March 8 at 12 p.m.
