KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan track and field team wraps up its final meet of the indoor regular season at the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday at the University of Notre Dame.
For the Broncos it's the final meet before the 2022 Indoor Mid-American Conference Championships next weekend at Kent State. Events begin at 11 a.m. and the meet wraps up for WMU with the running of the 4x400-meter relay at 3:20 p.m.
WMU was at Kent State last weekend for the Doug Raymond National Qualifier. Sophomore Ahvon Mitchell used her performance at the meet in the 60-meter hurdles to jump up to eighth on the MAC performance list, sitting just four spots and .09 seconds behind teammate Grace Johnson. Also improving her ranking was senior Madison Ochs in the shot put. She reached 43' 7" (13.28m) to move up to 17th in the conference. Johnson, Mitchell and Azariah McGee-Grantham all head into Saturday's meet in the top eight in their events, with McGee-Grantham sitting eighth in the 60-meter dash.
WMU returns to KSU next Friday for the MAC Championships.
