FIRST AND FIVE

DAZZLING DEFENSE
Western Michigan's defense shut down another high-powered offense, holding Bowling Green to just 286 yards of total offense. BGSU quarterback Matt McDonald was held under 200 yards passing for just the third time on the season and without a touchdown pass for just the second time.

WMU allowed just one touchdown in a game for the third time this season and for the second straight game after holding Miami to just 10 points back on Oct. 22.

START #2
The loss at Bowling Green was the second career start for true-freshman quarterback Treyson Bourguet. Bourguet was 16-for-27 through the air with one touchdown and one interception. The Tuscon, Ariz., native also rushed for 29 yards. The touchdown pass, a 39-yard pass to Corey Crooms, was the first of his collegiate career.

PUTTING THE BALL ON THE GROUND
The Western Michigan defense has shown a knack for forcing the ball out of the opponents hand this season. WMU has forced a fumble in seven of the nine games this season and forced a season-high three against the Falcons. In the past two games, the Broncos have forced five, with the defense recovering  three.

COREY'S COMING ON
Junior wide receiver Corey Crooms had a season-high 151 yards receiving on eight catches against the Falcons. He also caught his fifth touchdown pass of the season. Crooms has a touchdown in four of the last five games and has eclipsed 100 yards receiving twice in those five.

MOVIN' ON UP
Junior running back Sean Tyler is getting ever-so-close to breaking into the top 10 in the nation for all purpose yards. Heading into the BGSU game he ranked 17th in the nation. After rushing for 93 yards and adding 88 yards in kick returns, Tyler has moved up to 12th in the nation. He now averages 141.67 all-purpose yards per game.
