King Wins Fifth Player of the Week Award

CLEVELAND – Western Michigan senior outside hitter Maggie King has received her second straight MAC West Offensive Player of the Week award, the league office announced on Monday. It is King's fifth Player of the Week award this season.
 
King racked up 29 kills (4.83/set) on a .279 hitting percentage, 31.5 points (5.25/set) and added a pair of service aces (0.33/set) as Western Michigan swept Eastern Michigan over the weekend. The senior also picked up 16 digs (2.67/set) and successfully received 35 out of 36 opponent serves (.972).
 
In Friday's 3-0 win, King picked up 14 kills, six digs and an ace for the Broncos. On Saturday, she then registered her team-leading 12th double-double of the season, as she totaled 15 kills on a .367 hitting percentage and added 10 digs in WMU's 3-0 victory.
 
For the season, King leads the MAC in total kills (386) and total points (437.0), ranks second in the conference in kills/set (3.86) and points/set (4.37), and is third in the league in service aces (39) and aces/set (0.39). The senior is currently 27th in the nation in total kills and 28th in total points.
 
Western Michigan heads to Mount Pleasant for its final road matches of the regular season this weekend as it takes on Central Michigan. First serve for Friday's series opener between the Broncos and Chippewas is slated for 6 pm.
