KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis program picked up seven wins on day two of hosting the Bronco Super Challenge at West Hills Athletic Club on Saturday.
After picking up nine total wins on the opening day, WMU wrapped up the doubles competition with a pair of wins in round three. Lindsey Zieglar and Karin Hamilton took down Milwauke's pair of Burgerdijk and Simonova 6-2. The other win came from Kailtyn Rogosch and Maya Perkucin, also picking up a 6-2 win against Oaklands Hultqvist and Montreuil.
The Broncos earned five wins in round two of singles play. Zieglar defeated Notre Dame's Castedo 6-3, 6-1, with Hamilton battled Cleveland State's Vicario to a three-set with 6-0, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6). Valeriya Monko also picked up a three-set win, beating Eastern Michigan's Hernandez 4-6, 7-6 (2), 1-0 (10-1), while Perkucin earned a two-set 6-4, 6-2 win over Notre Dame's Sforzo. Freshman Audrey Smitek picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win over CSU's Franz and Kiana Rizzolo wrapped up the day with a 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6) win over UWM's Ma-Jong.
The Broncos wrap up play on Sunday with the final round of singles action beginning at 9 a.m.
