KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's soccer team dropped its first Mid-American Conference contest of the season, falling 1-0 to Central Michigan at the WMU Soccer Complex on Thursday.
The Broncos outshot the Chippewas 13-7 overall, but CMU had the advantage in shots on goal at 4-3.
Reagan Wisser led the Broncos with three total shots and two shots on goal.
The lone goal came in the fifth minute by CMU's Ashley Scesniak. She got the ball from Matilda Melin and fired a shot that was deflected and looped over WMU goalkeeper
Hannah Sargent and into the net.
WMU turned the pressure up on the second half, outshooting CMU 6-2, but were unable to find the net.
Western Michigan is back at it on Sunday at Ball State with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
