CLEVELAND – The recognitions continue to roll in for Western Michigan men's soccer player Charlie Sharp, who was named Male Scholar Athlete of the Week by the Mid-American Conference on Wednesday. On Tuesday, Sharp was also named the MAC Player of the Week for the second time this season. 
 
Sharp earns the honor after scoring four of WMU's eight goals last week, netting a career-high four in a 7-1 win over Chicago State University. The four goals equaled Western Michigan's single-game program record. Sharp was also instrumental in the Broncos' 1-0 win at Bowling Green last Tuesday. 
 
The Brighton, Mich., native has helped lead Western Michigan to a program record eight consecutive victories, and currently leads the Broncos in both points (17) and goals (6). Of his six goals, one was a game-winner. Sharp has also contributed five assists and has put a team-high 15 of his team-leading 31 shot attempts on target. 
 
Academically, Sharp is a Business major and has a 3.79 overall grade-point average.
 
The Broncos continue play on the road at Detroit Mercy on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The match will be stream on ESPN+.
