ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team is through two days at the Intercollegiate Tennis Associate Midwest Regionals at the University of Michigan.
The Broncos started things off on Thursday during the qualifying singles draw. Kiana Rizzolo and Maya Perkucin each started off with wins. Rizzolo defeated Notre Dame's Rylie Hanford 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 in the opening round. Perkucin won in two sets over Eastern Michigan's Sabina Brichackova 6-3, 6-4. Perkucin fell in the second round to Michigan State's Marley Lambert 6-4, 6-1, while Rizzolo also suffered a second-round loss to DePaul's Valentina Martin 6-4, 6-1.
In Friday's main doubles draw it was the duo of Valeriya Monko and Kaitlyn Rogosch that picked up an 8-1 win over the team of Tabanera and Bertino from Valparaiso in the opening round. The pair then fell to Michigan's Cerdan and Kelly, 8-4, in the second round.
In the main singles draw senior Lindsey Zieglar fell in three sets to Michigan's Gala Mesochoritou 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 in the opening round.
The Broncos return to action at home on Nov. 11-13 hosting the Bronco Super Challenge at West Hills Athletic Club.
