KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan volleyball team got double-doubles from both
Logan Case (36 assists, 10 digs) and
Maggie King (11 kills, 11 digs) as it opened up Alumni Weekend with a 3-0 win (25-22, 25-22, 25-16) over Toledo on Friday afternoon at University Arena.

Case's double-double was her team-leading eighth of the season. Going back to the end of the 2021 campaign, Case has registered 30 or more assists in 33 consecutive matches. King stayed within one of Case in the double-double department as she collected her seventh of the year.
Keona Salesman posted a team-high 12 kills for Western Michigan on a .286 hitting percentage, while
Amanda Glanton and
Abi Wilcoxson chipped in nine apiece. Salesman has tallied double-digit kills in seven straight contests.
Andelyn Simkins racked up a team-high 14 digs, and
Reeghan Boyer was also in double-figures with 10.
WMU enjoyed an 8-6 advantage in total blocks, led by
Kennedy Hogan's career-high six rejections (1 solo, 5 assists). Wilcoxson contributed four block assists for the Broncos.
Toledo held a 9-5 advantage in the early stages of the opening frame. Western Michigan notched six of the next eight points to draw even at 11-11. UT briefly regained a 13-11 edge, but the Broncos countered with a 5-0 run to move ahead, 16-13. The Rockets trimmed the gap to two on several occasions down the stretch, but WMU held on to take the first set, 25-22.
The two teams went back and forth during the early portion of the second set, before a 4-0 spurt put Toledo ahead, 14-11. With UT leading 18-15, the Broncos reeled off five straight points to ignite a 7-1 surge which put WMU on top, 22-19. The Rockets closed to within a point at 23-22, but back-to-back kills by Wilcoxson and Glanton put Western Michigan ahead 2-0 heading into the break.
WMU raced out to an 8-2 advantage in the third frame. With the margin at 16-11, the Broncos tacked on five consecutive points to stretch their lead to 21-11, essentially putting the set beyond reach.
