KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis heads to Cleveland State on Saturday for a double-header against the Vikings and St. Bonaventure.
WMU takes on CSU at 10 a.m. and then the Bonnies at 2 p.m.
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS (2-1)
Western Michigan is coming off its first weekend of dual match play, going 2-1 with a pair of wins over Ferris State and a loss at No. 12 Michigan. Junior Lindsey Zieglar is already off to a good start to the second half of the season with a 2-1 performance in singles that netted her Mid-American Conference Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week. She also went 1-1 in doubles play.
Against the Bulldogs, the Broncos opened with a 7-0 win and then a 4-0 victory later in the afternoon. Western Michigan's athletes combined to only drop one set against Ferris State.
SCOUTING THE VIKINGS (1-0)
Cleveland State opened its dual match season with a hard-fought 4-3 road win at Dayton last Saturday. The Vikings swept doubles to gain an early 1-0 lead and then won at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 singles to claim the victory.
WMU and CSU met back in 2020 with the Vikings winning 4-3 in Kalamazoo. The Broncos are 4-1 all-time against Cleveland State.
SCOUTING THE BONNIES (0-2)
St. Bonaventure opened up its season with losses at Loyola Maryland and Navy last weekend. The Bonnies dropped a narrow 4-3 decision against Loyola but were swept 7-0 by the Mids.
The Broncos traveled up to St. Bonaventure for the first-ever meeting between the two programs, earning a double-header sweep 7-0 and 4-0.

Western Michigan returns to Kalamazoo for three straight home matches, hosting Oakland on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 10 a.m., Valparaiso on Sunday, Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. and the University of Arizona on Thursday, Feb. 10 at 12 p.m.
