The Broncos open their 2021 home slate on Saturday, Sept. 11, against Illinois State. The kickoff time for the opener is 5 p.m. and it will be WMU's annual CommUniverCity game.
The home schedule continues Saturday, Sept. 25, when San Jose State visits Waldo Stadium. The Spartans went undefeated in the regular season in 2020, winning the Mountain West Conference, before suffering their lone defeat of the year to Ball State in the Arizona Bowl.
The first Mid-American Conference home game of the season is on Saturday, Oct. 9, when defending MAC & Arizona Bowl Champion Ball State visits for a key West Division showdown. The Broncos and Cardinals met in last year's regular-season finale to decide the division title, with BSU winning a dramatic contest before winning the MAC Championship Game the following week and, later in December, the Arizona Bowl.
Homecoming returns to Waldo Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 16, when Kent State travels to Kalamazoo. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET.
Midweek #MACtion debuts for 2021 when the rival Chippewas visit on Wednesday, Nov. 3 (7 p.m. ET). WMU has held the Cannon since 2018 via three straight wins in the series. It will also be the first step in WMU's aim to retain the Michigan MAC Trophy, which the Broncos have also held since 2018.
The home slate concludes Wednesday, Nov. 9 with a visit from Akron (7 or 8 p.m. ET).
