Aniya Davis Qualifies for NCAA East Preliminaries

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan track and field senior Aniya Davis has been selected to compete in the discus at the NCAA East Regional Championships in Jacksonville, Fla., next Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
 
Davis enters the event ranked 14th in the region at a distance of 180' 2" (54.91m) and is the second-highest ranked competitor from the Mid-American Conference. The qualifying throw for the Grand Rapids, Mich., native came back on April 30 at the GVSU Extra Weekend meet. The distance ended up breaking WMU's previous record of 176' 10" set back in 2014 by Andrea Hiler.
 
Davis has earned three wins in the discus during the outdoor season and most recently scored at the MAC Championship in the event for the first time in her career after taking fourth place.
