KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan track and field heads up to Grand Valley State for the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet on Friday and Saturday.
This is the final meet of the regular season before the Broncos head down to Miami (Ohio) next weekend for the 2021 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships. The Extra Weekend Meet will provide the Broncos with a last chance to improve their standings in the MAC Performance List.
Friday will be a light day for WMU, with field events beginning at noon and then a large pause until the running events in the evening. Seniors
Aniya Davis and
Taylor Eaton are both set to compete in the hammer throw invitational and the discuss invitational. Davis currently ranks fifth in the discus on the MAC Performance List and ninth in the hammer throw.
Courtney Allen will run in the 800-meter run at 8:10 p.m., while
Ashley Shipps closes out the night's activities for the Broncos in the 5,000-meter run at 9:15 p.m.
Saturday will see Western Michigan compete in the shot put invitational, open discus, 4x100-meter relay, 1,5000-meter open run, 100-meter hurdles, 100-meter dash, 400-meter hurdles, 800-meter open run and the 200-meter dash.
