CLEVELAND – The Western Michigan women's basketball team claimed three spots on the Mid-American Conference's Academic All-MAC team, the conference announced on Wednesday morning.

Maddie Watters and sophomore
Ashley Konkle earned the academic recognition. It's the sixth year in a row the WMU Women's basketball program has had at least three student-athletes earn Academic All-MAC.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
For the second year in a row junior
Maddie Watters earned Academic All-MAC honors after posting a 3.90 grade point average in Accountancy. On the court Watters played in 21 games, making 11 starts and averaged 5.8 points per game. Watters ranked second on the team with 30 three-pointers while shooting at stellar 33.3 percent from long distance.
Watters scored in double figures in eight games including the final six contests. Watters recorded a season-high 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field with four three-pointers at Eastern Michigan on Feb. 24.
Redshirt freshman Taylor Williams was named to the Academic All-MAC team thanks to a 3.54 GPA in Biomedical Sciences. Williams averaged 12.3 points per game and ranked fourth in the MAC at 9.7 rebounds per contest en route to All-MAC honorable mention and MAC All-Freshman team honors.
Williams scored in double figures in 15 of WMU's 21 games and registered two 20-point games. Her best performance came on Feb. 10 against Akron, scoring a career-high 30 points while tying a school record with 21 rebounds. The 21 rebound were the fourth most in a single-game in MAC history.
Rounding out the trio was sophomore
Ashley Konkle who earned Academic All-MAC honors after registering a 3.39 GPA in Biomedical Sciences. Konkle played in 20 games this season for WMU, averaging 2.0 points and 1.9 rebounds off the bench. The Aurora, Ill., native had a season-high nine points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field at Central Michigan on Dec. 9.
