MORGANTOWN, W.V. – The Western Michigan men's soccer team fell on the road at West Virginia, 3-1, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Mountaineers built a two-goal lead thanks to an early goal by Dyon Dromers and a goal shortly after the start of the second half by Ike Swiger. Dromers scored in the 26th minute after his shot deflected off of a Bronco defender and bounced into the net. Swiger scored in the 50th minute after being set up by Jesus DeVicente.
The Broncos cut the lead in half with a goal in the 73rd minute.
Max Keenan placed a cross in the box and it was headed by
Dylan Sing toward the goal. The ball bounced off the right goal post and
Mike Melaragni jumped on it and punched it into the net for his third goal of the season.
Minutes later Swiger tallied again to make it 3-1.
"We got beat in all phases of the game today," said head coach
Chad Wiseman. "It was always going to be a tough turnaround from Sunday, but I expected a better effort than what was given. The good news is we turn the page and we address our attention to SIUE for our first ever Easter Sunday home match."
