KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team remained undefeated in Mid-American Conference play, improving to 4-0 and 15-1 overall after a 6-1 win over Buffalo at Sorensen Courts on Sunday afternoon.
The duo of
Peter Kuszynski and
Joaquin Caballer led the charge in the Broncos taking the doubles point. The pair won at No. 3, 6-0, over Finn Macnamara and Tom Owen.
Zac Faveri and
Jannik Opitz won at No. 2 to secure the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Simon Wibler and Valdemar Holm.
Opitz put the Broncos ahead 2-0 after finishing off Bjoern Peterson 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1, while Kuszynski pushed the lead to 3-0 after winning 6-3, 6-4 over Matthew Johnson at No. 2.
Arjun Honnappa clinched with win for WMU after winning at No. 5, 6-2, 6-3 over Wibler. Freshman
Brogan Pierce extended the lead to 5-0 after winning at No. 6 over Greg Hastings 6-3, 7-5. Junior
Fynn Lohse put Western Michigan's sixth point on the board with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 win over Macnamara at No. 3, while
Jackson Boone fell to Holm 6-4, 3-6, 0-1 (10-8) at No. 4.
The Broncos conclude their first round of games through the MAC on Friday at Northern Illinois before returning home to host Butler on Saturday at 3 p.m.
