OXFORD, Ohio -- The Western Michigan softball team suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Miami on Saturday afternoon. The RedHawks took game one, 10-1, before capturing the night cap, 5-1.
Game one saw the Broncos jump out to a 1-0 lead behind
Mackenzie Swinehart's third home run of the season. The senior leadoff hitter also walked later in the game. Sydney Steefanick was 1-for-2 at the plate for WMU.
Emily Koperdak threw 1.1 innings of one-hit work in relief of starter Reilly Galloway, to took the loss.
The second game saw
Sophia Ehlers deliver an RBI, while Rissa Bajusa and Stefanick each had hits. Bajusz threw a complete game, allowing five hits and five earned runs in six innings.
Western Michigan and Miami will cap their four-game series to open MAC play on Sunday, March 21, with a Noon ET first pitch.
