OXFORD, Ohio -- The Western Michigan softball team concluded its first Mid-American Conference series of the year, dropping the finale of the four-game series at Miami, 10-0.
Mackenzie Swinehart,
Sydney Stefanick and
Sophia Ehlers all delivered hits for the Broncos and
Jordyn Swinehart reached on a walk.
The biggest threat for WMU came in the top of the first when the Broncos loaded the bases.
Mackenzie Swinehart reached on an error to start the game and after a strikeout, Stefanick singled to right and Ehlers delivered an infield single to load the bases.
Kaylen Glenfield then hit into a double play and a strikeout ended the inning.
The RedHawks then delivered with two runs in the first, two more in the second and a six-run fourth. The hosts then held WMU scoreless one more time in the top of the fifth to end the game.
Next up for the Broncos is a four-game series at Ohio set for Friday-Sunday, March 26-28. The series opens with a single game on Friday set for 3 p.m. ET.
