YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team remained unbeaten on the season after 6-1 road win at Eastern Michigan on Friday afternoon.
The Broncos improved to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in Mid-American Conference play on the season.
"It was another hard-fought MAC match," said head coach
Ryan Tomlinson. "We will get a little work in tomorrow and get ready for a very good Ball State team on Sunday."
WMU earned the doubles points on victories by
Femke Tjon-A-Joe and Anna Guadiana, 6-3, at No. 1 and
Lindsey Zieglar and Kaitlyn Rogosh at No. 3, 6-3.
In singles play Tjon-A-Joe won at No. 1 over Isabelle Pompa, 6-3 and 6-2. Ziegler improved to 10-0 on the season after winning at No. 2 over Luisa Pelayo, 6-4 and 6-3. Freshman
Maya Perkucin defeated Julia Piatek 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6, while
Karin Hamilton was taken to three sets, winning 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 over Emma-Lou Pommiers at No. 4. Rogosh rounded out the day with a three-set win against Grace Whitney 7-6, 4-6, 1-0.
The Broncos return home to host the Cardinals on Sunday at 2 p.m. outdoors at Sorensen Courts.
