OXFORD, Ohio -- The Western Michigan softball team dropped its 2021 Mid-American Conference opener on Friday afternoon at Miami. The Broncos dropped a 15-0 decision to the RedHawks in five innings to open the four-game series.
Sophia Elhers picked up the hit for the Broncos, while
Sydney Stefanick and
Katie Parker also reached base. Elhers extends her hitting streak to six games, the longest by a Bronco this season.
Miami jumped out to a lead with a four-run second inning before adding a single run in the third and 10 runs in the fourth inning.
The teams return to the diamond on Saturday, March 20, for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. before concluding the series Sunday at Noon ET.
