Hockey Falls at No. 4/5 St. Cloud State

ST. CLOUD, Min. -- The Western Michigan hockey team fell at No. 4/5 St. Cloud State, 5-1, on Friday night.

Freshman forward Ty Glover scored the lone goal for the Broncos, coming on the power play late in the third period.

The Huskies took an early 1-0 lead on a goal at 2:51 in the first period. WMU (5-11-3, 5-11-3-0-0-1 NCHC) turned it over in its own zone and Jared Cockrell found Will Hammer for the one-timer. SCSU added to its lead on a short-handed goal by Jami Krannila at 10:48 in the first period.

Easton Brodzinski pushed the lead to 3-0 just 28 seconds into the second for the period's lone goal. Krannila scored again in transition at 3:10 in the third period.

WMU broke the shutout at 8:29 on Glover's fourth goal of the season. The Broncos were on the power play and broke out into the SCSU zone with Ethen Frank and Glover on a two-on-one. Frank dished it over to Glover, who banked it off a St. Cloud State defenseman and into the net. Frank picked up his fifth assist of the season on the goal, with Cole Gallant tallying his ninth.

SCSU added a fifth goal with 22 seconds left on a power play goal.

The two teams battle for the final time in the regular season on Saturday at 7:07 p.m. The game can be seen live on NCHC.tv and heard live on the Bronco Radio Network.
