Women’s Basketball Readies for Rivalry Game with CMU Saturday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's basketball team returns home for a rivalry match-up against Central Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 6 inside University Arena.

Scouting the Broncos

Snap a Skid
Western Michigan looks to snap a seven-game losing skid to its in-state rival.  The last WMU victory over CMU was a 67-73 win in the MAC Tournament in 2017.

Looking to Down CMU
The last time WMU defeated CMU in the regular season was back in 2015 with a 69-64 victory. It was also the last time Western Michigan secured a home victory against the Chippewas.

A Trio of Broncos
The trio of sophomore Sydney Shafer, redshirt freshman Taylor Williams and redshirt senior Reilly Jacobson against Miami all scored in double figures. The trio of Broncos scored 58 of WMU's 64 points at Miami.

Shafer Playing Well in #MACtion
Sophomore guard Sydney Shafer leads the Broncos during MAC play at 13.3 points per game while knocking down 22 three-pointers against MAC opponents. Overall Shafer ranks second on the team with 13.4 points per game.

Leading by Example
Senior forward Reilly Jacobson leads the Broncos at 14.1 points per game while shooting 46.7 percent from the field. Jacobson has 10 games this season scoring in double figures to go along with one 20-point game and two 10+-rebound games.

What's Next?
Western Michigan continues its brief two-game homestand with a home match-up against Akron on Wednesday, Feb. 10.
