KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan gymnastics team will take the top national qualifying score in the Mid-American Conference to Muncie, Indiana, for a showdown with undefeated Ball State on Sunday, March 28. The dual meet begins at 3 p.m. ET.

Western Michigan (5-3, 5-3 MAC) has won three straight dual meets in MAC action, scoring over 196 as a team in its last two outings. Most recently was a win over Eastern Michigan, powered by a record-setting afternoon from
Payton Murphy. The sophomore set the school record with an all-around score of 39.375, powered by tying the school record on balance beam at 9.950.

Ball State (12-0, 8-0 MAC) is undefeated on the year, most recently having scored a 195.550-193.250 win at Bowling Green last weekend. Arden Hudson set the school record on the beam with a mark of 9.925, while Hannah Ruthberg posted an all-around mark of 39.225 (second best score in the MAC this year, trailing only WMU's Murphy). BSU's top mark of the season came in a quad meet with WMU, Eastern Michigan and Kent State (195.975) on Feb. 6.

The Broncos have one regular season meet remaining as they'll travel to Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, for a quad meet at rival Central Michigan on Saturday, March 13. WMU and CMU will be joined by Eastern Michigan and Ball State.
That leads into the March 20 MAC Gymnastics Championship, which will be hosted by WMU at University Arena.
