KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan football team fell victim to a 42-10 run over the final three quarters in a 42-30 defeat to Central Michigan in a Mid-American Conference contest on Wednesday night at Waldo Stadium.
Kaleb Eleby completed 22-of-36 passes for 276 yards and one touchdown for Western Michigan (5-4, 2-3).
Corey Crooms caught seven passes for 118 yards and a touchdown. It marked the second 100-yard receiving game of the season for Crooms.
Sean Tyler scored a pair of rushing touchdowns, while
La'Darius Jefferson added his team-leading 10th rushing touchdown of the season for WMU.
The Broncos opened the scoring on their first drive of the evening, as Tyler capped a 15-play, 80-yard drive with an 11-yard touchdown run. Western Michigan stretched its advantage to 14-0 early in the second quarter, as Jefferson scored from six yards out.
The two teams traded punts until the 5:03 mark of the second quarter, when CMU's Kalil Pimpleton returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown, cutting the margin to 14-7. The Chippewas scored again on their next drive to tie it up, and in the final minute of the half, Pimpleton took a second punt in for a score, giving Central Michigan a 21-14 halftime lead.
On Western Michigan's second possession of the third quarter,

Eleby connected with Crooms for a 31-yard touchdown strike late in the third quarter to briefly trim the deficit back to four, but once again the Chippewas answered with a touchdown of their own to make it a two-score game, 35-24, and WMU drew no closer.
