PEORIA, Ill. – The Western Michigan cross country team wrapped up the 2021 regular season at the Bradley Pink Classic at Bradley University on Friday.
In the final meet before the Mid-American Conference Championship it was fifth-year senior Rebecca McNamee pacing the Broncos in the race. McNamee, who was an All-MAC selection at last year's MAC Championship, finished the 6k race with a time of 22:28.5 to finish 92nd overall. It was just her second race of the season and her first 6k.
WMU finished 26th overall in the field of 37 teams. Junior Annalise James finished as the team's No. 2 after running a time of 22:47.1, a new career-best for a 6k race. It was her second personal-best performance of the season after she PRed in the 5k race at the Joe Piane Invitational back on Oct. 1. Sophomore Brook Soper finished just over a second behind James with a time of 22:48.8, also a 6k personal-best. Finishing as the Broncos' No. 4 was freshman Alayna Ostling, running a time of 22:57.9 in her first collegiate 6k. Senior Kailyn Mince wrapped up WMU's top five with a time of 23:20.1.
The Broncos have next week off before traveling to Eastern Michigan for the MAC Championship on Oct. 30.
