Broncos Host BGSU in First Home Conference Game Wednesday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – For the first time since early December the Western Michigan women's basketball team will play a game in Kalamazoo as the Broncos host hosting Bowling Green on Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan enters Wednesday's contest with an overall record of 1-4 and 0-3 in Mid-American Conference play. The Broncos have dropped four straight and are coming off a 73-56 loss to Northern Illinois last Saturday.

Soaring Past the Falcons
The Broncos have won two straight and nine of the last 11 meetings against Bowling Green. WMU defeated BGSU 84-67 in Kalamazoo last season in the First Round of the MAC Tournament.

Young Broncos Lead the Way
Against Northern Illinois, the freshman duo of redshirt freshman Taylor Williams and freshman Megan Wagner combined for 25 points, 11 rebounds, five steals, three blocks and two assists. The duo account for 44.6 percent of WMU's total offense against the Huskies.

Senior Leadership
Senior Reilly Jacobson leads the Broncos with 13.4 points per game and has scored in double figures in three of WMU's first five games. Jacobson also ranks second on the team with 6.6 rebounds per contest.

MAC Home Openers
In MAC home openers, Western Michigan has an overall record of 6-2 under head coach Shane Clipfell. WMU is also 7-3 in its conference home opener since 2010.

Crashing the Glass
Western Michigan is one of just four schools in the MAC to have two players rank in the top 15 in rebounding. Taylor Williams ranks sixth in the conference at 8.0 rebounds per game followed by Reilly Jacobson at 15th with 6.6 rebounds per contest.

Leaders of the MAC
Freshman Gabi Saxman leads the MAC in free-throw percentage at a perfect 10-for-10 clip. Senior Reilly Jacobson leads the MAC with a .714 three-point field goal percentage.

What's Up Next?
Following Wednesday's contest Western Michigan will host in-state rival Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 9. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. inside University Arena.
