KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team improved to 4-0 on the season after sweeping Ferris State 7-0, 6-1 at West Hills Athletic Club on Sunday evening.

MATCH 1 – 7-0
WMU went 2-1 in doubles action to claim the first point of the day. Sophomore Arjun Honnappa and junior Fynn Lohse moved up to No. 1, defeating Mathis Guerre and Jan Koupil 6-1. Seniors Jannik Opitz and Zac Faveri took down Ayush Deswal and Alec Olivier at No. 2, 6-3. Ferris State's Benjamin Lortie and Josh McDermot bested Peter Kuszynski and Joaquin Caballer 6-3 at No. 3. (Order of finish: 1,2,3). adjustment with our doubles in the coming week."
The Broncos swept through singles play. Opitz got another win closer to WMU's all-time record after defeating Guerre 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1. Lohse was the second finisher, defeating McDermott 6-2,6-2 at No. 5. Brogan Pierce continued his strong start to the season after defeating Olivier 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6. Freshman Jackson Boone bested Koupil 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2, while Kuszynski defeated Yannic Mader 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3. Honnappa wrapped up the victory by winning against Lortie 6-0, 7-6 (10-1). (Order of finish: 1,5,6,2,3,4).
MATCH 2 – 6-1
In the evening match the Broncos went 3-0 in doubles action. Opitz and Faveri moved back to No. 1, defeating Guerre and Koupil 6-4. Lohse and Honappa continued their winning ways after beating McDermott and Lortie 6-1, while Kuszynski and Caballer avenged their earlier loss and won over Deswal and Oliver, 6-3. (Order of finish: 2,3,1).
Kuszynski moved up to No. 1 in singles and beat Guerre 6-3, 6-2. Boone claimed another win at No. 2, besting Mader 6-4, 6-3. Lohse moved up to No. 3 and defeating Koupil 6-4, 6-2, while FSU's Lortie got the best of Caballer 7-6 (10-5), 6-2 at No. 4. Honnappa claimed another win at No. 5, getting past Olivier 62, 6-1. Pierce wrapped up the sweep with a win at No. 6, 6-4, 6-2 over McDermott.
