Western Michigan to Open Football Season with Stony Brook

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan's season-opening football game, originally against Colgate, will now be played against Stony Brook. The game will remain in Kalamazoo and scheduled for September 4. The Patriot League's 2020 guiding principles created the need for a new opponent.

"We are looking forward to opening the 2020 season with Stony Brook," head coach Tim Lester said. "We know coronavirus has changed, and will keep changing, how we operate this season. We will continue to operate with an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, staff members, fans and WMU community."

Western Michigan's attendance, seating and tailgating policies for the 2020 season are still undetermined. Once decisions regarding game attendance and environment are made, WMUBroncos.com will release the information.
