KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan football led the Mid-American Conference with six student-athletes named to theÂ
Phil Steele All-MAC preseason first team, according to an announcement by the publication on Monday.

The Broncos had 11 total preseason all-league selections, tied for the second most in the MAC, trailing only 12 picks for Central Michigan.

For WMU, returning All-America linebacker and 2019 MAC Defensive Player of the YearÂ
Treshaun Hayward, 2019 second-team All-MAC defensive lineman
Ali Fayad and 2019 third-team all-league defensive back
Patrick Lupro represented the defense on the preseason top squad.
The left side of the Bronco offensive line made the first team with offensive tackle
Jaylon Moore and offensive guard
Mike Caliendo. Moore was a first-team all-MAC honoree in 2019 while Caliendo was on the second team. Completing the
Phil Steele first team for Western Michigan was long snapper
Bryce Bouwens.
On the second team was wide receiver
Skyy Moore, who was a first-team selection at the conclusion of 2019. The third team had
D'Wayne Eskridge at wide receiver and defensive tackle
Ralph Holley.

Rounding out the Western Michigan honorees were a pair of fourth-team linebacker choices in
Zaire Barnes and
Corvin Moment.
Western Michigan is set to kick off the 2020 season at home on Friday, September 4, against Stony Brook. Game time has yet to be determined.
