KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Former Western Michigan offensive lineman
Luke Juriga has agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles to join the NFL organization as an undrafted free agent.
Juriga, a 6-4, 298-pound center from Aurora, Ill., started all 52 career games played. He was an honorable mention All-America selection in 2019 byÂ
Phil Steele and a three-time All-Mid-American Conference choice (second team in 2017 & first team in 2018 & 2019), four-time Academic All-MAC honoree and three-time MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete (2017-18-19).
He started his first three seasons at right guard before shifting to center for his final campaign, in 2019. Juriga helped Western Michigan to 33 wins including the 2016 Marathon MAC Championship Game and three bowl game appearances (2016 Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic; 2018 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl; 2019 SERVPRO First Responder Bowl). He was part of the third-winningest senior class in program history.
After his senior year, Juriga represented Western Michigan at the East-West Shrine Bowl in St. Petersburg, Fla., on January 18, 2020.
As a senior, Juriga was a team captain and recipient of the program's Greg Jennings Outstanding Offensive Player award. He helped the Broncos finish with top-three MAC rankings in total offensive yards per game (445.7; 2nd), third down conversion percentage (.453; 2nd), fewest fumbles lost (6; 2nd) fewest passes intercepted (13; 2nd), fewest turnovers lost (14; 2nd) and points per game (33.1; 3rd) … nationally, the WMU offense stood in the top 30 in fewest turnovers lost (20th), third down conversion percentage (23rd), total offensive yards per game (25th), fewest fumbles lost (26th), rushing yards per game (205.1; 28th) and points per game (30th). He was a key member of an offense that stood third in the conference in fewest sacks allowed per game (1.38) and 18th nationally. LeVante Bellamy, who was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award, given to the top running back in college football. Juriga's efforts also helped tight end
Giovanni Ricci become one of eight semifinalists for the John Mackey Award, presented to the nation's top collegiate tight end. Juriga contributed to the success of quarterback
Jon Wassink, who stood 29th nationally in total passing yards (3,097), 35th in total offensive yards per game (262.8), 37th in passing yards per comÂpletion (12.85) and 39th in passing yards per game (238.2).
The 2018 WMU offensive line tied for 32nd nationally in fewest tackles for loss allowed per game (5.15) while the 2017 unit opened holes for Western Michigan's ground attack that featured
Jarvion Franklin's 1,228 rushing yards, the second most in the MAC and 28th most nationally. Juriga was a key piece of the blocking scheme for Franklin's 102.3 rushing yards per game, the second-highest average in the conference.
During the 2016 campaign, Juriga started all 14 games at right guard as Western Michigan captured the MAC West Division title and Marathon MAC Championship Game crown and made an appearance in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. The team finished the regular season with a 12-0 record and only loss was to Wisconsin in the bowl tilt. Juriga was a member of Bronco offensive line that was ranked No. 4 in the country by
 Pro Football Focus.
Juriga graduated from Western Michigan in December, 2019, with a degree in manufacturing engineering technology.
