CLEVELAND – Led by a pair of three-time honorees, Western Michigan landed seven selections on the 57-member 2019 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Gymnastics Team announced by the conference office on Wednesday. Seniors
Taylor Buis and
Amelia Mohler received their third career Academic All-MAC accolades while juniors
Alexis Olivier and
Morgan Spence earned their second selections. Junior
Stacie Harrison and sophomores
Emily Carless and
Carissa Ludwig were named to the squad for the first time.
The seven Broncos helped Western Michigan to its first MAC regular season title since 2006 with a 5-1 league mark. On Monday, Mohler was tabbed the MAC Co-Specialist of the Year.
Harrison and Olivier have claimed individual MAC championship titles on the bars with Harrison taking the crown in 2018 and Olivier in 2019.
Western Michigan finished with two of the six highest scores in program history this season, including the second-highest mark with a 196.075 against Kent State during the team's Senior Day meet. The Broncos' floor group also finished with the highest score in program history with a 49.375 versus Kent State.
To be eligible for Academic All-MAC consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.20 or better cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests. First-year students and transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible.
