KALAMAZOO, Mich.  – In its final regular season game of the 2019-20 campaign, the Western Michigan women's basketball team fell in an overtime battle to Ball State 64-63 on Saturday inside University Arena.

WMU concludes the regular season with an overall record of 17-12 and a 10-8 record in Mid-American Conference play. The Broncos are the No. 5 seed in the MAC Tournament and will host No. 12 seed Bowling Green in the first round on Monday, March 9 at 7 p.m.

The Broncos had three players score in the double-digits Saturday with Jordan Walker's 21 points and a team-high 11 rebounds leading the way to her first double-double of the season. Walker played in all 45 minutes of the contest, shooting 8-for-25 from the field and 3-for-3 at the free throw line with a team-high four assists and three steals. Leighah-Amori Wool was close behind with 20 points, shooting a solid 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. Breanna Mobley added 11 points and eight rebounds.

The Brown & Gold finished the contest with a 32.8 field goal percentage, converting 17 points off Ball State turnovers with 34 points in the paint.

The Broncos traded points with the Cardinals to start things out with Walker sinking the first two baskets for WMU. Ball State went up with a three and then five straight points, but WMU fought back with more points from Walker and a jumper from Wool. With the clock running out, Wool made her way through the lane for a layup to give the Broncos a 13-12 advantage after one quarter.

Ball State clawed back in the second quarter, outscoring the Broncos 20-10 off 5-for-7 three-point shooting in the frame. The Broncos came up with points from Mobley and their first three of the game from senior Kamrin Reed, but were unable to even out the score, heading into the locker room trailing the Cardinals 32-23.

The Broncos came back out in fighting form after the halftime break, holding Ball State to just eight points in the third quarter. Walker had a jumper and Chelayne Bailey sank a layup to start things off, followed up by a pair of free throws from Wool and a forced Cardinal turnover to earn Wool points from a fast-break layup. Walker came up with her first three-pointer of the day, capped off by a buzzer-beating jumper by Wool to give WMU a narrow 41-40 lead heading into to the fourth quarter.

The Cardinals were able to even things back up in the final frame of regulation, jumping out to a 47-46 lead off points from leading scorer Oshlynn Brown. Walker traded points with another three, followed up by more successful free-throw shooting from Wool to work toward the comeback. Down 55-52 with 2:27 to play, the Broncos went to the line twice, making 4-of-4 shots to tie the game at 57-57 and send the contest into overtime.

The extra five minutes started out in Western Michigan's advantage as the Broncos went on a 6-0 run with points from Walker and back-to-back baskets by Wool.  From there, the Cardinals took control. Ball State put up seven straight points from Brown and Thelma Dis Agustsdottir to take the lead, holding the Broncos scoreless for the final two minutes of overtime to seal the win 64-63.

The Broncos held a Senior Day celebration postgame, honoring the team's four graduating seniors- Chelayne Bailey, Breanna Mobley, Jillian Fletcher, and Kamrin Reed.
