PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The Western Michigan baseball team concluded play at the Snowbird Classic on Saturday with a 3-2 victory over St Bonaventure in Port Charlotte, Fla.
With the win the Broncos improved their overall record to 9-6 on the season while posting a 4-1 record at the Snowbird Classic.
Against St. Bonaventure, the Broncos scored three runs on seven hits with senior
Ethan Hajdukovic the lone Bronco to record a multi-hit game. Hajdukovic was 2-for-4 at the plate against the Bonnies with one run scored.
Behind Hajdukovic in the line-up was junior
Blake Dunn, who registered a 1-for-4 performance at the plate with a team-high two RBIs. Dunn roped a two RBI double to right field to give WMU a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
Sophomore
Gavin Doyle was 1-for-3 on the day with one run scored while junior
Sean O'Keefe also went 1-for-3 at the plate as well. Junior

Will Morrison rounded out the hitting for the Broncos against St. Bonaventure.
The Broncos got a dazzling performance on the mound from sophomore RHP
Easton Sikorski, who picked up his third win of the season going 7.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on nine hits with five strikeouts. Sikorski leads the Bronco pitching staff with a 3-1 record and a 2.13 ERA.
In relief, junior
Jack Huisman earned his first save of the season throwing 1.2 innings, allowing no runs on no hits with two strikeouts. Huisman, in 15.1 innings pitched this season, ranks third on the team with 15 strikeouts to go along with a 2.35 ERA.
At the Snowbird Classic the Broncos went 4-1 with wins over St. Bonaventure, Villanova, Northeastern and Army. As a team the Broncos hit .292 with 36 runs scored on 45 hits. WMU recorded 14 extra-base hits with 11 doubles, one triple and two home runs. Dunn led the Bronco offense hitting .412 with four runs scored, eight RBIs, two doubles and a home run.
Behind Dunn was Hajdukovic with a .368 batting average to go along with four runs scored and a .421 slugging percentage. McIntyre led the Broncos with seven runs scored while down in the Sunshine State with five RBIs and five doubles. Junior
Sean O'Keefe ranked second on the team with seven RBIs while hitting .350 and one home run.
The Bronco pitching staff posted 35 total strikeouts in over 42 innings and gave up just 10 extra base hits. Huisman along with LHP
Dane Armbrustmacher led the Broncos with six strikeouts each.
With an overall record of 9-6 the Broncos will be on the road next weekend for a three-game series, March 14-15 against Butler.
The first three innings remained scoreless for both teams, until the bottom of the third when the Broncos scored three runs on three hits. Doyle led off the inning with a single before advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt from Morrison. After a walk by McIntyre followed by a single from Hajdukovic the bases were loaded for Dunn.
With Dunn at the plate the Saugatuck, Mich., native rocketed a two-RBI double to right field to give the Brown & Gold a 2-0 lead. One batter later, Dunn scored on a sacrifice fly from redshirt junior
Logan Hudson to give the Brown & Gold a 3-0 lead.
St. Bonaventure got on the board in the top of the fifth, connecting on a two-out double to right field to cut the Bronco lead down to 3-1. The Bonnies looked to strike again in the top of the sixth loading the bases with no outs before Sikorski got out of the jam with two fly outs and a fielder's choice.
The Bonnies trimmed WMU's deficit down to one in the top of the eighth, scoring a run on a sacrifice fly to right field with one out. Western Michigan halted the scoring threat a batter later as Huisman got a fly out to centerfield to end the eighth.
In the ninth, Huisman earned his first save of the season recording a fly out prior to back-to-back strikeout to secure the 3-2 Bronco victory.
