KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan University Director of Athletics Kathy Beauregard announced today that men's basketball head coach Steve Hawkins will not return for the 2020-21 season.

 "We appreciate all the contributions he and his family have made to our university and the Kalamazoo community," Beauregard said. "Ultimately, I've decided to make a change in the leadership of the men's basketball program. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately."
 
Hawkins has been at Western Michigan for the past 20 seasons, the last 17 as head coach of the Broncos.
