KALAMAZOO, Mich.– The Western Michigan women's basketball team and head coach Shane Clipfell announced a reorganization of the coaching staff on Thursday, January 9.

"I am happy to announce a staff reorganization that will add new titles to our assistant coaches," Clipfell said. "I have an excellent staff that all play very vital roles in the daily goals we have for our program. Each has earned their new title by being incredibly committed to our University and our basketball program."

Russ Rose is entering his sixth season as a Division 1 women's basketball assistant coach and his third season with the Broncos. Rose was an assistant at his alma mater Davenport University before spending time with Northern Kentucky and University of South Dakota. Rose will become the Bronco's Associate Head Coach.

"Russ contributes many intangibles for our program behind the scenes and provides outstanding guidance and direction to our student-athletes," Clipfell said.

Cetera Washington enters her sixth season with WMU and will become the team's Assistant Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. Washington is a native of Kalamazoo and played for four seasons under Clipfell and Suzy Merchant at Michigan State University. She has spent five years with the Broncos assisting with perimeter player development, recruiting, scouting, equipment and academic supervision.

"Washington has always been well known, recognizable, and respected for the way she recruits potential student-athletes, Clipfell said. "This change will allow her to continue to grow in a profession that she has proven she is very well suited for."

Meredith Shipman is the most recent addition to the staff, joining Western Michigan last spring as Director of Operations before moving to an assistant coaching position. Shipman was a key four-year player for the Broncos, graduating in 2017 and first spending time as an assistant with Davenport women's basketball.

"Shipman will become Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator," said Clipfell. "As a former Bronco student-athlete, she knows exactly what this terrific University is all about and has shown that she has a very bright future in the collegiate coaching profession."

The Broncos (9-4, 2-0) will see action Saturday, Jan. 11 at Kent State University, hoping to extend their conference record to 3-0 on the season.
